Eligible participants will include Asian American females (with and without breast cancer) who:

• Are between the ages 21-90
• Live in one of the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Mateo, or Santa Clara 

With your participation, you can help us expand the knowledge about the link between breast cancer and Asian American women.

1. You will be asked to complete a survey that will take approximately 45 minutes. You can do this online, over the phone, or by mail.
2. You will be asked to collect a small saliva sample. This can be done in the privacy of your own home.
3. You will be asked to collect a small hair sample. This can be done in the privacy of your own home.
4. You will be asked to provide HIPAA authorization, which will enable researchers future access to breast tumor tissue that was previously removed during surgery or a biopsy (breast cancer cases only).

Yes! Compensation will be given out within three tiers:

1. Upon administration and completion of our survey, a $25 gift card will be given to the participant.

2. Upon donation of a saliva and hair sample, another $25 gift card will be given to the participant.

3. If the participant gives consent for future access to stored tumor tissue, another $25 gift card will be given to the participant (only eligible for breast cancer patients).

California Cancer Registry (CCR). Since cancer is considered a reportable disease, state law requires that doctors, hospitals and other facilities that diagnose and/or treat cancer patients report to the CCR. The CCR and institutional review boards ensure that the rights and confidentiality of all our potential research participants are protected.
